Fun Fact: This song was popular the summer my mother’s newlywed cousin and husband visited New York from Italy for their honeymoon. They would sing it CONSTANTLY, and we would have mini concerts whenever it was on the radio as we took them on tours through the Big Apple in my dad’s van.
I saw them this summer, with their two children and beautiful home. She showed me photos of their trip, and I asked her if she remember Mambo No. 5. After cackling, she asked me how she could forget that and the laughter from all the nights they spent together with my family.
I bet Lou Vega never thought this song would have that kind of nostalgic impact.
Also: I always thought it was cute that my name is in this song. :P
